'Grow Ups' Japan

The center for creative communications is currently showing the exhibition 'Grow Ups': an exhibition of eleven young Dutch artists (among them, quite a few Shop Around artists) whose work moves between mature art and childlike fantasy.

The title Grow Ups indicates that the art contains strong influences from the artists’ childhood and adolescence. Mature themes come together with visual references to toys, television cartoons, comic magazines and video games of American and Japanese origin.

Participating Shop Around artists:
Ingrid de Lugt, Wayne Horse, Mark Verhaagen, Lennard Schuurmans. And also: IRIS, Nanna Koekoek, Merijn Hos, Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk/Cirque de Pepin,Leendert Masselink/studio illurama, Bjorn Eulink, Manumanu

Parts of this exhibition were shown at CORROSIA! in 2008. On invitation of CCC the work is exhibited following a curational contest.
